Mya Hope Schuler
June 4, 2010 - April 3, 2025
Mya was born on June 4th, 2010 and joined our family on August 13th, 2010. From the day we picked her up in southeastern Iowa, traveling home in a thunder storm, we could see how mellow her personality was. For the entire 15 years of her life, she remained the calm in our storm, loved unconditionally, and walked through life with her gentle spirit. Everyone who met Mya loved her.
Mya’s biggest passions in life included food, being outside, and spending time with her family. She was at her happiest when she was running through a field without a leash, going on family hikes, and spending time at the lake. She enjoyed butt rubs and tummy rubs, leading the way on walks, and jumping into the lake to swim after her crazy humans. All in all, she just wanted to be loved and she made that very easy to do.
Mya ate anything that was handed to her. That included pills without having to be disguised, vegetables, and the occasional gift card or paper check that she found “lying around”…whoops! She loved chewing her bone and playing “fetch” (a.k.a. we threw the ball and she would never bring it back to us).
On March 4th, 2025, Mya started to display signs of discomfort. She was taken to the vet and after multiple visits, it was determined that she had a large mass that had formed on her liver. As the days progressed, she continued to weaken. On April 3rd, 2025 at 6:16pm, Mya passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her favorite people: her family.
Mya was exactly what our family needed and was the best 5th member of the Schuler clan for 15 years. She will always be loved and our memories with her will last us a lifetime.
Thank you for being our missing piece, Mya Girl. We miss you dearly and love you with all our hearts.
Rest easy, Mya Baby.
