Jake was born on February 11, 2008 and died on February 25, 2021. He was adopted at the age of 5 from English Springer Rescue America (ESRA). Jake did not look like your typical springer spaniel, he was 60 pounds and big boned. Strangers asked “Is he a baby Saint Bernard?” or “Is he part rottweiler?” My response was “He’s a springer with a big head and big feet.” Jake was a velcro dog, he would follow his people from room to room. He enjoyed hanging out in the computer room and man cave. You wouldn’t know it by looking at Jake but he was an absolute “love bug.” In the morning Jake and Lucy (his feline friend) could be found sitting on the other side of the pet gate at the end of the hall waiting for their people to rise and shine. Jake loved to eat. In the morning he would sit for his 2 slices of banana. In the evening he would get a strawberry after his walk. He also loved baby carrots, popcorn and peanut butter. After Jake’s passing, a text was sent out to several neighbors with dogs saying “We have lost our parade marshal.” The adults and dogs often walked around the block with Jake leading at a snail’s pace. Lots of talking but not much ground covered! Jake knew the neighbors and they knew him. Some neighbors would give him treats and he remembered who they were! Jake will be greatly missed by Greg and Diane, Lucy the cat and his neighborhood canine friends Snowy, Chip and Kanga. We would like to thank the doctors and staff at Heartland Animal Hospital in Owatonna for their compassionate care.
